Good Riddance, Easter Bunny!

I think the Easter Bunny is not visiting this year. And by that, I mean..... I think we are gonna tell the kids that there is no Easter Bunny!  I can't get a straight answer out of my husband, of course!, but I really hope we kick that bunny to the curb!!!!

I've been wanting to do it for a few years now. The whole 'wait until the kids are sleeping to stuff and hide eggs around the house then set up baskets on the kitchen table' thing hasn't never really been my cup of tea. Steven wanted to do the tradition when the oldest was a baby, so that's why we did it. But the kids are practically 12 and almost 9.... it's time!

I'm not sure how my parents hold my sister and I that there was no Easter Bunny, but I wasn't traumatized by the ordeal. I'm realistic like that......


I pray it goes over well with the kids.  Then we can focus more on Jesus during the Easter season (which we do anyway, but then we don't have to worry about all the "Hallmark-y" stuff associated).

Valentine's Day 2016

Valentine's Day was this past Sunday.

Steven and I went out to dinner at a restaurant in Cape May, NJ (an hour drive from where we live). But it was totally worth it because the place was super cute and the food was DELISH!!! I wanted to take a picture of it, but didn't want to look like that freak who had to have her phone out while on a date.

After dinner, Steven wasn't feeling super great, so we decided to come home a little early and watch a movie with the kids. Delaney likes Into The Woods (Dylan not so much), so we thought that Grease would go over well. How wrong we were! The kids were NOT feeling it. At all.  After the kids went to bed, Steven and I watched The Lake House (my Keanu obsession runs deep, people)-- I hadn't seen it in awhile and Steven never had. He liked it though, so that was good. Then he gave me a box of Russell Stover's assorted caramels, so the night was complete!!!

I had a great time on our date, and we vowed to do them more often.

New Years / 2016 Reading Challenge

New Year's Eve was spent at my house, with my family. Very low key. The kids stayed up till midnight, then we all went to bed after running outside and banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons (a family tradition I did as a kid, lol).



This year, I plan to read 15 books. I normally reach my goal and then some... but the one year I chose to up my goal by 5 books I didn't hit it. So I'm playing it safe again this time, hehehe.

Christmas 2015

Just wanted to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas!

I am officially way too tired to upload and post pictures. Both the kids are playing with their toys and the husband is laying on the couch taking a nap while dinner is in the oven #primerib. Maybe I should sneak in a quick nap too, lol. Or get in some video game time........ GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!

The Fourth of July 2015

Spent the day in Ocean City, NJ with my parents, and my sister and her family. We put the kids on the rides, walked the boardwalk and sat on the beach to see the fireworks. It was an amazing day!

Easter 2015 Recap

*A writing prompt from Mama Kat*

Easter Sunday, the kids got up at 6:30am and immediately woke us up. Both the kids believe in the Easter Bunny still (I'm not rushing their childhood, thankyouverymuch) so they wanted to see what he brought. They got a chocolate bunny, marshmallow peeps, jelly beans and a few other small things in their baskets. The Easter Bunny doesn't go crazy here, as Jesus is the main focus of the holiday.

Had breakfast, got dressed and ready.... then headed to church.


Then we drove down to my mom's house for Easter dinner. My sister and her family came too.

Independence Day 2014

Today we are hanging in my parents backyard BBQing and having a fire pit going (weather permitting). *Thank goodness the rain went away around 2pm lol*  My sister, her husband and their child came over to hangout too. Good times all around.

Tomorrow we are heading down to OCNJ to walk the boardwalk, play some mini golf, and watch the fireworks at nighttime. It's gonna be a great day!

Two Holidays Rolled Into One

Today is a very special day in our household. There are TWO holiday's going on under this roof.

Delaney's Birthday & Father's Day


The day went like this: Church, video game time, present opening, lunch in Ocean City, NJ, then to spend the rest of the day at the OCNJ boardwalk (rides, food, snacks). Kids crashed into bed and Steven and I watched Game of Thrones before passing out, lol.














We had such a fun day!!!!

A 35th Birthday Celebration *Small Recap*

Steven had a birthday this past Friday. We went out to two local bars (after work hours of course) and had a freakin blast!

Steven's Big Three Five Is Today

Steven's 35th birthday is today. His office is supposedly giving him a small party at lunchtime, so that'll be fun for him. And then tonight we are going out to this local Dive Bar to celebrate.


His present is tickets to see Dave Matthews Band at next weeks concert, which he knows is coming since that's what he gets every year (and he doesn't mind it one bit). We always have a great time there as well, so it's a win win.

Memorial Day

There's A Birthday In The Hizz-ouse!

Ten years ago today, Steven and I became parents to this beautiful baby boy. He's grown into such a sweet, caring, loving, funny, intelligent human being who lights up the room when he walks in. He's truly the best son a mother could ask for, and I'm so proud of all the things he has accomplished!!!!!

Easter Sunday

I'm so over the stupid Easter Bunny, it's not even funny..... but my kids are not *le sigh* so....... he arrived this morning with a small basket for each child of mine. The bunny decided to do an egg hunt out in the backyard instead of his usual indoor one.

Church in the morning, as well, as Jesus is what this holiday is really all about.

Dinner at my mom's house for the afternoon. My parents (obviously), my sisters family, my one grandmother, and my one aunt will be there too. Easter is very low key for us. 

Game of Thrones at nighttime, though...... holla!!!!!

Holiday And Weekend Recap

Geeksters, I'm sorry... I left you all hanging on the Valentine plans I didn't set up in a timely fashion. It worked out beautifully, no worries!

I had all intention of doing this dinner-and-a-movie thing this one restaurant was offering. But after only being there the week before, and Steven NOT happy with the food he ate, I scratched that idea.... two days before Valentine's Day. NOT a smart movie.

The morning of the holiday, I texted a few people to ask them what their plans were. I got vague "going out to dinner" texts... no one was specific with me. My sister finally got back to me and said "hibachi". I said to myself, *BINGO!!!!* Steven LOVES Hibachi!!! I was joking around with my sister and was texted her "Want to double date?"  She actually thought it was a great idea. See, we've been meaning to hang out just us and our husbands, but it's never worked out because of our schedules. Anyway, we planned to meet at the Hibachi place at 5:15pm.

The kids had off of school, so we went out to lunch to a place of their choosing. My kids chose McDonald's. I can handle that! Then we headed over to the library and picked out some books. After that, we came home and got ready to head north to my parent's house (to babysit of course).

Steven was done with work and met up with me at my parents house. He got me and Delaney a bouquet of flowers that were just beautiful!!! We said bye to the kids and drove to the Hibachi restaurant. When we got there my sister and her husband were waiting for us. We ate and had a very nice time. Dinner was delicious, oh my goodness DELISH!!!!!!! After dinner we went our seperate ways. Steven and I headed to this little coffee shop the next town over. Horrible, horrible, horrible!!

Anyway, after that we came back to my parents house and decided to sleepover since we had to be up in my hometown tomorrow. We threw on a movie and crashed!!


Saturday was my dad's birthday. We had a party at my parents house. Low key.


Sunday was an easy day..... no real plans, which was awesome.


Monday Steven and the kids had off of work/school, so we decided to take them to go see The Lego Movie. I thought this was the second best kid movie I've ever seen in my life (right behind Toy Story 3). It was hilarious! Steven and I laughed out loud at least twenty times. The kids were laughing too. And the ending was great too.  After the movie we took the kids to lunch-dinner. The kids wanted to try out IHOP. They liked it!! Then we came back to the house and played Nintendoland on Wii U. Good stuff right there!!

It was such a great weekend!

Valentine's Day: Hopefully NOT A Bust

Okay, so yesterdy was a rough day here in the Geeky household. Not gonna do into details, but I didn't have time or energy to do what I was SUPPOSED to tackle yesterday (Kids had a snow day from school and Steven's work shut down due to the impending snow).

I woke up, wished my family a Happy Valentine's Day, and got Steven off to work. Then I realized something.......

I told Steven we were doing this holiday low key, and he was cool with that. Score! BUUUUUTTTT, I didn't actually plan anything. Am I the only one?  And it's my year to plan (we alternate) so I have to think of something like fast. Hope places take reservations the day of. I'm sure they do, it always works out in the movies, am I right??

Anyway, while Steven is at work and I'm planning something, I get to spend the morning and early afternoon with my two kiddos. We haven't had time just the three of us in awhile, ya know, because they go to school. I'm sure crafttime will take place before we have to pack for Nana's house.

A New Year-- 2014 Has Started!!!

This post never actually posted yesterday like it was supposed to, booooo......... 


It's twenty fourteen. The new year is upon us. I don't usually make resolutions (or the new word going around... goals) for my life. I'm sure I should, but I just don't. I take it one day at a time, and appreciate the things I have. I'm a simple girl. Geeky and simple.

Of course, some news:  I've said it a thousand times already I'm sure of it, but I'm going to sit back and reflect on some things that went on with my blog here, and change things up a bit. I've had some ideas brewing for some time now..... and I want to put them into place, but not rush it, or force it upon my readers. Good ideas need time to get awesome, in my book, lol. And a new layout is coming, as well. It's most definitely needed!  Expect all my changes to take effect come Februrary (uuuggghhhhhh, that's so far away, Melissa! Why do we have to wait that long?) Greatness comes to those who wait, Geeksters.

FYI: I'll still be posting while my changes are commensing. I guess I do have a Blogger Goal: to post more often. And better. Oh, and to comment back to people (which I know I have slacked on BIG TIME and I apologize to all those who have commented on posts. I've read them I promise!)

New Years Eve 2013

Hello Geeksters! It's been awhile......... still kinda getting over the crazy holiday shenanigans, and another holiday is right around the corner..... it's never ending. Kinda like the laundry in the house, hahahaha.

Anyway! We honestly don't do anything spectacular for New Years Eve. Steven doesn't really think it's a "big-deal" holiday.... and I kind of agree with him. My brother in law, his wife and baby are gonna come over later tonigiht to just hang out at the house and wait for the ball to drop. I'm sure board games and video games will commense..... that's how we do! Once the ball drops the kids go on the lawn, bang pots for a few minutes, then come inside and go to bed. Then we go to bed. Nothing fancy, lol.

Thanksgiving 2013

Vacation was truly amazing. I honestly didn't want to leave to come back home. That recap is scheduled for another day *winky*

Now we're in the swing of the holidays. We are having family at our house this year. This is the third year in a row we've had Thanksgiving at my house and I absolutely love it!!! My parents will be here, along with my paternal grandmother. And my one sister in law is coming up from Va to celebrate. A nice small get together with family is perfect. I wish my sister could come over, but she's having my nephews first Thanksgiving at her house with her inlaws so I'm sure we'll Facetime after dinner.


And don't forget that the Macy's Day Parade is on in the morning.
