Movie Monday - Link Up Party

 photo MovieMonday1_zps83a445b5.jpg

I'm starting a new link up. Join up if you're interested!!!

So Mondays here at "The Geek" (the loving name I call my blog) are going to be full of movie goodness. Movie chat on a Monday, if you will. Yea, I'm totally diggin' that!  I'm gonna share what movies I've seen lately and how I felt about them.

Man of Steel

I loved everything about this movie! And I'm not a huge Superman fan (I would choose other superhero's over him if push came to shove). The whole movie was full of non-stop action, crazy scenes and lots of goodness. The storyline was decent too, so that's always a plus. My son (he's 9) gave it a 6 out of 5 so it must be fantastic lol
P.S. Knock me all you want, I let my kid(s) watch certain adultish movies when it comes to super hero's... my 9 year old is mature. That's my choice as a parent.

Monsters University

Sequels are.... well, sequels. We took the kids to see this in the movie theater last week. It was cute, I'm not gonna lie... but it's not the original. I did laugh out loud twice (at parts where I was the only one laughing in the entire theater, haha) but I did like the movie. The kids liked it too.

End of Watch

Steven and I wanted to watch a movie and this popped up on Netflix. Okay, we'll try it out. I'm not into cop movies really.... just not my thing. I liked how the movie was filmed (the main character was filming while on duty, so some parts of the movie is like first person view). The story was good. I think the ending should of been a littttttttttle different, but it was fine. I only gave it three stars. Steven liked it more than I did, he gave it four.

Beautiful Creatures

I wanted to see this movie in the theaters, but of course just never got around to it. Steven suggested we rent a movie (which I will never turn down). He checked out the local Redbox online and said "You wanted to see this right? Go rent it for us!" so I did. It's a YA supernatural movie, which I'm okay with..... The story was good, but I just thought the movie was alright. Nothing too exciting or spectacular.  I'll still give it four stars though, since Jeremy Irons is the bomb diggity, yes indeedy!

Now go ahead..... make a post about which movies you've seen lately and how you feel about them. Then link up with that post (NOT your blog main URL) so everyone can see what we've all been watching!  I'm always up for new movie suggestions.

Synopsis: Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, "Brave" features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right.Written by Walt Disney Pictures

My true feelings:  I was happy to rent this movie for the kids and I. I was a little disappointed with it though. I like the message behind the movie, but just something about it didn't work for me. The kids enjoyed it and my husband called it "a snoozer", lol.

QUESTION FOR MY READERS: SOMEONE BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THEY WISHED THIS WAS A LINK UP PARTY. IF I DID MAKE THIS A LINK UP, WOULD YOU JOIN IN ON THE FUN? LET ME KNOW :)

Movies I Saw this past week:

Rating: NO STARS out of 5
(it doesn't even deserve to be awared a star)

Synopsis: Dean Pereira and Cindy Heller Pereira are a young, working class married couple - Dean currently working as a painter, and Cindy working as a nurse in a medical clinic - with a young daughter named Frankie. Despite their relatively tender ages, they are both ravaged by the life they've eked out together and by the experiences they've had leading into their marriage. Dean, a high school drop out, comes from a broken home, where he never really had a mother figure. He never saw himself getting married or having a family despite falling in love at first sight with Cindy. He doesn't have any professional ambition beyond his current work - which he enjoys since he feels he can knock off a beer at 8 o'clock in the morning without it affecting his work - although Cindy believes he has so much more potential in life. Cindy also comes from a dysfunctional family, with her own mother and father not setting an example of a harmonious married or family life. My true feelings: This was in the Romance catergory on Netflix. I also googled and it came up under Top 10 Romance Movies. So I put it on for my husband and I. Let me tell you... the WORST movie I've seen! It wasn't romantic at all. I like the flashback aspect... when they think back to how they got to where they are now, but it's a very graphic movie (I saw Michelle Williams naked, and Ryan Goslings ass *which was THE best part of the movie). And I will spoil it for everyone! They break up, he walks out of the house and down the street... and then the movie just abruptly ends. Credits role. And you're staring at the screen like What the HELL just happened. Your next thought is Why did I sit through this entire movie and waste my life away.

FYI: IMDB.com gave this movie a 7 out of 10 starts. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Rating: photo star_ratings1_zpsb947eb4f.png photo star_ratings1_zpsb947eb4f.png out of 5

Synopsis: When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs, and imaginations of children all over the world. Written by DreamWorks Animation on IMDB.com

My true feelings: The whole concept was cute, I'll give it that. But I saw what was coming a mile away, and so did my kids. That's never really any fun. We did laugh at a few parts, but the middle just got so boring and I only kept watching just to see if I was right about how it ended up. I was. Plus, I'm never on board with a Russian Santa.... Santa is German!  I was actually pulling for this movie to be good, since the cast of voices was great (Chris Pine, Alex Baldwin, Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher) so I was just so disappointed when it turned south.

My true feelings:  Took the kids to see this this past weekend. It was totally cute! Lots of funny parts, and a good back story that the kids could understand. The characters were easy to like as well. I even teared up a little bit towards the end, because it was an emotional part.

P.S. I don't always watch kid movies, I promise.

What movies did you watch this week? Anything good? Anything crappy?
