So far I'm totally hooked, and I'm only 30% into it. I haven't had a lot of time to read this summer, as we've been so busy doing summer things.... I didn't even have time to sit and read while on vacation for two weeks, we were that busy!

August Blogging Challenge, Day 8

Day 8: Beat the heat! Share a snow related story.


The best time I've had playing in the snow was back in January 2005. It was just my husband and I (we were newly married then). Our son was an infant and he was just not having anything to do with being out in the snow. Since Steven and I were all dressed we just stayed outside while my mom watched the baby indoors. We made a snowman together. Simple, yet one of the best times with Steven.

August Blogging Challenge, Day 7

Day 7: Your favorite summertime destination.

Hands down, my favorite summertime place to visit is Ricketts Glen, PA.

Sounds like a random place to be in the summer, huh??

Lemme explain.....

My husband and I go to Ricketts Glen State Park in PA every August and go camping, sans kids. It's a state park, so with that comes lots of wildlife, like bears. Legit bears. We normally do a long weekend trip. It's filled with camping and hiking. Right very close to our campsite is the entrance to a waterfall hiking trail. That's our jam man! Lots of huge waterfalls and a cool hiking trail to venture on. When we get to the bottom of the trail there's the biggest waterfall there and we go out to this huge flat rock in the middle and eat our lunch. It's such an amazing small getaway, I love it!

P.S. There's no cell service there. You have to drive 10 minutes down the mountain in order to get service on the cell. Talk about off-the-grid-vaca..... Perfecto!

I'm out of town today, so I only have two photos at my disposal that I can share with you of my favorite place. I'm not happy about that, but it's gonna have to do I suppose, lol.

August Blogging Challenge, Day 6

Day 6: Describe your favorite beach and why you like it so much.


I go to the beach on what's known as LBI here in NJ (Long Beach Island). It's a long island off the coast of New Jersey. Simple enough right? Haha!

I live the next town north of Manahawkin (see the photo above). Right under the "S" where it says Surf City the land comes to a point... there's a bridge there that is the only way on and off the island. So all the tourists normally go to the towns of Ship Bottom, Surf City, Harvey Cedars..... up the island that way. I go to what I feel like is the "non-touristy" area, Brant Beach. It's never crowded, even on the best beach day. There's always parking on the street right across from the entrance (which is a plus with two kids in tow). And the sand is so soft and clean.; no shells all over the place (which drives me bananas).

Seriously, it's the best beach I've been to. Like ever.

Day 2: If you had three wishes what would they be and why?

So yea.... three big wishes, huh? Lets see........ to be a lotto winner would be nice... but money isn't everything to me. To get a brand new car would make things easier.... but I'm not into materialistic things.

My REAL three wishes are--

1. I'd wish for my children to be successful in the fields they want to pursue (Astronomy and Nursing)
2. For my husband to be happy, and to be in love with me forever.
3. For myself to be the best mother I can possibly be.



I'm a simple girl, and those are my real wishes.

August Blogging Challenge, Day 1

Day 1: Who Am I?

Hey Geeksters... you all know me by now, right? Well, if for some reason you do not, let me lay it out for ya..............




So, welcome to my new blog! 


Some of you already know me.... I've changed blog names and I couldn't be more happier!  For those of you who aren't familiar, my name is Melissa and I am 29 years old. I'm very much into books, video games, movies, actors and TV shows. I'm absolutely the biggest nerd I know. That's my personality, love it or leave it. I talk geek, I also type geek... I'll help everyone out with the lingo, lol.
Some basic info about me: I married my best friend Steven, who is definitely the love of my life, back in 2004. We're almost married nine years and it's passed by so quickly. One of the best days of my life, hands down! We have two children together, Dylan and Delaney. They are both in grammar school. I'm a stay at home mom so I can raise them to be beautiful people when they grow up. So far, I'm doing a good job, if I do say so myself *proud face*.
  
Now, even though I've been on Blogger for quite some time, I'd like to say I'm still a novice at it.... so bare with me please. I tweak my blog daily, as I find new things I like to show off. Force of habit. I try to post fairly often. Don't forget to follow my blog (button is on the left). And I swap buttons [here] so go check that out too.
