Book Review: Shylock Is My Name

Shylock Is My Name
Shylock Is My Name by Howard Jacobson on GoodReads

When I agreed to read and write a review on this book, I was unaware that it was a "modern re-imaging" of Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. I actually liked the cover and that was why I mostly agreed to read the book. Because of that, it was hard for me to get through the story. And I would put it down for awhile, then go back to it to only read a few pages before putting it down again. This type of book just isn't normally what I read.

Disclaimer: I wrote this review to be submitted to
Blogging For Books,
who graciously let me read this book for free
I was not paid for my honest opinion.

Good Riddance, Easter Bunny!

I think the Easter Bunny is not visiting this year. And by that, I mean..... I think we are gonna tell the kids that there is no Easter Bunny!  I can't get a straight answer out of my husband, of course!, but I really hope we kick that bunny to the curb!!!!

I've been wanting to do it for a few years now. The whole 'wait until the kids are sleeping to stuff and hide eggs around the house then set up baskets on the kitchen table' thing hasn't never really been my cup of tea. Steven wanted to do the tradition when the oldest was a baby, so that's why we did it. But the kids are practically 12 and almost 9.... it's time!

I'm not sure how my parents hold my sister and I that there was no Easter Bunny, but I wasn't traumatized by the ordeal. I'm realistic like that......

I pray it goes over well with the kids.  Then we can focus more on Jesus during the Easter season (which we do anyway, but then we don't have to worry about all the "Hallmark-y" stuff associated).

Sick Kids = Boring Post

The kids are both home sick from school today. Now I've been running back and forth between the two of them, taking care of them. Between trying to keep their fevers down, the vomiting (in and out of the bathroom (of course)) and trying to get them both to eat something........ I'm totally exhausted. Like, I want to go to bed exhausted...... and it's not even four o'clock yet.

Was going to set up my new blog today, but I didn't care for the new name I picked out. Of course! So back to square one. Yikes!

And I have to fold a lot of laundry.

Yep, that's my post.

Trying Out A Different Essential Oils Comapny

I am into essential oils. I bought products from one company (which is very popular), and while I did like them... the price of those oils absolutely KILLED my wallet!

My friend, who used the first company aforementioned, suggested another company (that she started using) to me awhile back, which is way easier on the wallet. I finally caved in (since my stash is finally getting reallllllllly low) and placed a small order. They arrived today!

That whole order (eight 10ml bottles) only cost $41.00! And it's FREE SHIPPING on all orders in the United States.

I am busting them out right now to try!!!

Interested in getting more information about
the company I bought the oils from, then go here

I was not paid for this post.

A Productive Weekend Here

Steven had had this plan to build a vegetable garden in our yard for years. Due to us having dogs (before they passed away) we didn't think it would work out *cuz HELLO, they'd eat them when we weren't looking lol*.  Then this past summer Steven's grandmother passed away, and she was an advid gardener, so I think between that and not having the dogs anymore, that really made him put his plans into action!!

And my husband goes big or goes home, people. Let me tell you! He saw this picture of a raised vegetable garden on Facebook and he wanted to build it. I'm the wife that says "Sure honey, anything you want, honey", knowing full well he's absolutely nuts!

But anyway, we woke up Saturday morning and he went to Home Depot to get the supplies. TWOOOO hours later, he arrived home with a car full of wood. I helped him hold the wood while he measured and cut it. Then I helped him put it together. We were trucking along, until the power drill battery started to die out. By then it was 4pm.... can we say DONE!  Dinner and a family movie night happened. So did going to bed early!

Daylight Savings Time made us miss church (TOTAL bummer!). We got up, he ran to Home Depot because we were short a little bit of wood and he wanted to stock up on more supplies, just in case. He was on there for an hour this time, haha!  Then it started to rain. But we stayed the course and built what we could, before being too exhausted to do any more.  We came in, I made dinner, we ate as a family, then we all played a board game before having another family movie night. Went to bed a little later than we should of, but I'm the cool mom like that!

I can only share one photo, as the project isn't complete, and I was pretty much sworn to secrecy by Steven (no mention of this project on Facebook please) because he wants to do a big reveal when it's all complete. I, on the otherhand, couldn't wait to share it on my blog.

He has to finish putting up the wood frame edges in the back. Then he has to add chicken wire in the squares (to keep the animals out of course). The back part is taller because the veggies we plan to grow are on vines and grow upwards, lol.

The weekend was very productive and I am really excited about this vegetable garden!
